The Manipulation Decoder
A TWELVE-LESSON COURSE
What happened to you has a name.
Twelve of them, actually.
The Manipulation Decoder is a twelve-lesson course that explains the psychology of manipulation and coercive control. Gaslighting. Love bombing. DARVO. Trauma bonding. What each one is, how it worked on you, and why none of it was your fault.
Taught by a forensic psychology specialist and coercive control expert who has spent years face to face with the people who use these behaviours.
Get The CourseMaybe nobody ever raised a hand.
There may have been no bruises. No police. Nothing you could point to and say, there, that's the proof.
And still, something was very wrong. You knew it in your body before you could say it out loud. You started assessing your own words before you spoke. You replayed conversations at night, trying to work out what actually happened. You told friends a smaller version of the truth. You asked yourself the same question again and again: am I overreacting?
Here's the part almost nobody tells you. That question is not a sign that you're confused. It's a sign that something was done to you. Something with a method, a structure, and a name.
Let me show you what I mean.
Think about how often you ask yourself if you're overreacting. Before you speak. After you speak. At three in the morning, about conversations from years ago.
Nobody is born doing that. A person only audits their own reactions that constantly when someone has taught them that their reactions are the problem. Every time you were told you were too sensitive, or making a big deal out of nothing, the question got planted a little deeper. Until it stopped needing them to ask it. You took over the asking.
That's one small piece of one mechanism. It has a name, and a research base, and a whole lesson in this course. There are eleven more like it. By the end, the things that made no sense about your relationship will make a horrible kind of sense. And the things you've been blaming yourself for will finally sit where they belong.
Get The CourseYou already know the words. Nobody explained the mechanisms.
You've probably read a hundred articles by now. Lists of gaslighting phrases. Signs of a manipulator. You could quote them.
And the confusion is still there. Because knowing the word gaslighting isn't the same as knowing how another adult actually made you doubt your own memory. Knowing the term love bombing isn't the same as knowing why the beginning felt like fate. The words describe what happened. The mechanisms explain how it worked, and why it worked on you.
This course teaches the mechanisms. Each lesson takes one and walks you through it, step by step, until you can see it operating in your own history. It's the difference between recognising a trick and understanding it so well it can never be used on you the same way again. And there's research showing exactly that: for some of these tactics, learning how they work has been proven to protect you from them.
The questions you've been typing into Google at 2am
Every one of them has a lesson in this course.
How did I not see it sooner?
LESSON 1
Why did they do it?
LESSON 2
Was any of it real? Did they ever love me?
LESSON 3
Why do I doubt my own memory?
LESSON 4
Why did explaining myself never work?
LESSON 5
Was it even bad enough to count?
LESSON 6
Why did everyone else think they were wonderful?
LESSON 7
Why did everything get worse when I confronted them?
LESSON 8
Why did I stay? Why do I still miss them?
LESSON 9
Why couldn't I just leave?
LESSON 10
Was it actually abuse?
LESSON 11
Was I the problem by the end?
LESSON 12
Twelve lessons. Twelve mechanisms. Ten minutes each.
1. Betrayal Trauma Theory
Why you couldn't see it clearly, and why that had nothing to do with intelligence.
2. The Entitlement Schema
The belief system behind their behaviour, from inside the rooms where I work with the people who hold it.
3. Love Bombing
Why the beginning felt like fate, and what the intensity was actually doing.
4. Gaslighting
Not a phrase list. The mechanism in your brain that made their version start to win.
5. JADE
Why every careful explanation you built made things worse, never better.
6. Minimisation
How events, and you, got made smaller one phrase at a time.
7. Impression Management
How they could be charming everywhere else and something entirely different at home. Both were real.
8. DARVO
What actually happened the night you finally said it out loud. Some of the strongest research in the field.
9. Trauma Bonding
The conditioning science of why leaving stayed hard even once you knew. The same science as gambling addiction.
10. Entrapment
How the practical exits, money, friendships, credibility, were closed one at a time.
11. Intimate Partner Terrorism
The clinical name for the whole pattern, and the category that holds your worst memory without making you the villain.
12. Self-Policing
Why, by the end, they barely had to do anything at all. The final lesson, and for many people the biggest one.
Each lesson is a short video, around ten minutes. You'll hear real stories from my years of practice, and real insights from the frontline. Everything is backed by published research, and you never have to read any of it. I've done that part for you, and made it easy to understand.
You'll also build something of your own
The course comes with a companion workbook. One page per lesson. Each page asks you for a moment from your own relationship, and helps you name the mechanism behind it.
By the final lesson you'll have written twelve moments, and the workbook shows you how to read them back in order. What you'll be holding is your own relationship, decoded, in your own handwriting, with every mechanism named. On the days the old voice gets loud, it's the document that answers it.
Why I can teach this
I'm Eve Howe-Robinson. I'm a forensic and behavioural psychology specialist and domestic abuse expert, with a BSc and MSc in Forensic Psychology and over a decade of frontline experience.
I consult on national programmes for domestic abuse perpetrators, and I've spent years of my career face to face with the people who use the behaviours this course explains. Surprisingly, most of them don't think they've done anything wrong. I've heard how they describe the monitoring, the controlling, the dominance, the rewriting of arguments. From their side, in their words. And I've spent years supporting the people on the receiving end too, so I know both sides of this story from the inside.
That's what makes this course different. Most education in this area is built from the victim's side of the glass, guessing at what was happening on the other side. I don't have to guess. I built this course because victims are asked to recover from something nobody ever properly explains to them. You deserve the explanation.
Who this course is for
It's for you if you're out of the relationship, or on your way out, and you're still carrying questions that won't settle. If you keep replaying things. If part of you still wonders whether it was really that bad, or whether it was somehow you.
It's for you if you're still in the relationship too, and trying to understand what's happening. The course will make sense of it. There's a short guide at the start about taking it safely and privately, and every lesson can be paused and returned to.
This is education, not therapy, and it doesn't replace one-to-one support. If you're in crisis or feeling unsafe, the right first step is a domestic abuse helpline where you live. Free, confidential helplines exist in most countries, and the course's opening guide lists them for the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and beyond. This course is about understanding what happened. It's the ideal first step towards finding clarity and rebuilding your life.

Questions people ask before buying
Will this actually tell me anything new?
Will it be too heavy to get through?
Is this therapy?
My relationship wasn't as bad as some people's. Is this still for me?
I'm still in the relationship. Can I take it?
You've spent long enough asking if it was you.
You've done the 2am searching. You've read the lists. You've carried the questions further than anyone should have to carry them alone.
Twelve lessons from now, the pattern has names, the names have research behind them, and the story finally makes sense. Not the version you were handed. The real one.
